The Differences Between Shipping Motorcycles and Cars

Having a motorcycle shipped is very different than having an automobile shipped. Whether the reason for having either transported is that you are moving, selling one, or sending it to storage, there are a few things to consider when choosing which one to have shipped and which one to ride yourself.

The main concern of any owner is safety. While a car has a hand brake and four wheels to keep stability, a motorcycle transport company has all the right tools and stands to keep the bike safe during travel. Both cars and motorcycles can be moved in open or closed carriers, based on the preference of the client. Often, towing rates will be determined on the type of trailer you prefer and how far the transport will be. Closed trailers usually have specially formatted tracks to keep motorcycles upright and securely attached to the trailer. Open trailers are more commonly used to move cars, since the amount of space isn’t as limited.

Motorcycle shipping can be helpful when moving out of state of even a little farther from home. It provides a way to get your bike where it needs to be despite being out of service or especially delicate. Having all the facts before calling a company to move your bike will bypass most of the problems of motorcycle transport.
